“Just completed an inspiring training on AP-MALDI coupled with the Orbitrap system at the Medicine Discovery Catapult in Alderley Edge organized by British Mass Spectrometry Society – BMSS. What a deep dive into the evolving world of mass spectrometry imaging (MSI)!
Even with years of experience in MSI, this was a humbling reminder that there’s always more to learn. Exploring the origins of the Orbitrap and its journey alongside AP-MALDI added a new layer of appreciation for the instruments we work with every day. A personal highlight? Meeting researchers who once worked directly with Michael Hillenkamp and others who knew my former PhD supervisor from Bielefeld University. Science is a small world—and moments like these make it feel like a connected one, too. Grateful for the chance to share methods, tackle challenges, and connect with mass spectrometrists. Here’s to continued collaboration and pushing the boundaries of spatial omics together.
